Do you have questions about how resident status, failure to file income tax, or some other legal matter might affect your eligibility for citizenship?

At Ginsburg & Gaynor, our United States Citizenship attorneys can readily advise you in these kinds of situations. If you have questions about your application, do not hesitate to contact us for a free consultation with a lawyer. What is involved in an application for US citizenship?

When a person has held a green card for at least five years or has been married to a US citizen for at least three years, he or she may initiate the citizenship process. Other requirements are:

  • residency and continuous presence in the US
  • good moral character
  • a knowledge of US history and government
  • the ability to read and write basic English
  • attachment (approval) of the US constitution

The last three areas will be determined largely by passing the citizenship test.

The naturalization process is often delayed and sometimes derailed by factors outside of ones control. If you need help, contact an experienced United States citizenship attorney at Ginsburg & Gaynor. If you require a translator and cannot bring a bilingual person to the interview, our firm can arrange for someone to assist you.
